Report on The 19th annual winter training course

The course was held last weekend 28th and 29th of January at New venue the Eastover Youth Centre where the kyo kai judo club normally trains.

The venue was not as big as the school hall that the course used to be held in and while there was plenty of room on the mat for practice especially with the extra dojo upstairs space was abit tight during breaks when mats needed to be lifted to make room and entering and leaving the hall required a bit of tight rope walking skills along a very thin unmated strip of floor.

Judo instruction was of course excellent benefiting from two sixth dan grades sensei Paul Laskey and sensei Beryl Cooke. Assisted by Sensei John McIntyre fifth dan and on Sunday we had a visit form our president Sensei Robin Otani.

Saturday afternoon the juniors had a competition two of our club members entered this Miles Garford who won gold and Michael Truman Burns who won first Bronze well done boys.

The grading on Sunday was not as well attended as previous years. Our club only had two entry’s in the grading and sadly neither of them Managed to get the required amount of wins
